Hanging Tough

By | Billy Kueek, Change, Personal Development, Success

Note from Dr Billy – Recent events have led me to reminisce, reflect and re-focus on life. And as I pondered, I remembered this one article entitled “The Cycle of Grief” that was published in the Straits Times some time ago, and I feel it’s timely to share it now.

Yet again, we are subjected to unpredictable economic conditions. Perhaps unpredictable is not the word as there have been many warning signs before we confirmed that we are in a technical recession.

Business process re-engineering, cost cutting and retrenchment are terms that enjoyed much publicity during these difficult times.

Therefore, in many people’s mind, the thoughts are “What do we do?” and “What happens if…?

Being out of a job is a catastrophic experience for many of us and this experience can be mentally, physically and emotionally harmful for some people.

Losing the lifeline can be a very stressful experience. As much as these are natural reactions, there are responses that one can adopt. These will help us to move on with our lives positively.

Perhaps a simple example would help you recall a time when you had to face challenges and rise upon them.

In my workshops on change management, I sometimes start by getting people to change seats and then I take a poll. Not surprisingly, I will learn that most people resist the idea at first (well, some admitted that they detest it while the majority indicated a little resistance).

My next question however, also generates a unanimous answer: As much as we dislike change and getting out of our comfort zone, we also settle in the new environment or situation very quickly.

We all have the natural ability to adapt to change and challenges. Some rise to it while others falter.

The Cycle of Grief
We experience a cycle of grief when we lose our jobs. Michael Farr, author of “The Quick Job Search“, proposes that we go through the grief in stages, namely shock, denial, anger or shame, depression and finally acceptance.

Shock occurs when we are surprised by the bad news and when the dreadful happens to us. Denial comes next when we cannot come to terms with the loss. Anger and shame then crop up resulting in us justifying, blaming and finger pointing.

Unfortunately, our society is a judgmental one that is quite unforgiving and that intensifies the feelings of anger and shame.

After some time, depression sets in and finally, we accept the reality and then summon the energy and motivation to move ahead.

Understandably, different people have different timeframes to reach the desired state of acceptance where we begin anew and seek a new job or a new area of interest to pursue our career.

The most important thing at this juncture is to understand the stages that we go through inevitably and get out of it fast. The sooner we deal with it, the faster we accept reality and the earlier we move on. Remember, there is a difference between failing and being a failure.

Let’s move on
The pain-pleasure principle of motivation states that those motivated by pain will move faster in these tough times but those motivated by pleasure can take time off to visualise a positive future state and create the urge to surge ahead.

Break Free from Patterns of Destructions

By | Personal Development, Success

Whatever you are today is the sum of all your past experiences.

We have all heard and read about how a little tiff on the road with other drivers resulted in road rage. Or how a young child does something out of carelessness and parents start yelling at top of their lungs. Personally, we all know what food we should not eat and yet, when the food is presented to us, we eat it.

How is it that as grown adults – with abilities to resolve, rationalize and reason – we still end up acting in ways that we later regret?

That said, there are also times when we are proud of ourselves for successfully having dealt with situations with appropriate actions and thereby, achieving desired results. So, how is it that we are sometimes able to take control of situations while other times we end up with regret and frustration?

To answer that question, here is another question: When you woke up this morning, how did you know that you are you?

The mind is made up of two parts – the conscious and the unconscious mind (some called it Subconscious while others call it Super Conscious). The conscious mind does the thinking and analyzing which is responsible for us thinking the right thoughts. However, it is the unconscious mind that keeps track of everything about you and is responsible for actions and behaviors. Given ad-hoc situations, we react and respond unconsciously and only do the thinking after that. That explains why we sometimes think, talk and act undesirably.

Now, NLP Master Trainer & Hypnotherapy Trainer Lim Kit Wan combines her experience of years of corporate and public trainings, across cultures and industries on topics such as Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Hypnosis, Time-Line Therapy™ and behavioral sciences, into a power-packed one-day workshop.

Titled Break Out! Break Thru! Break Free!, this workshop utilizes breakthrough combination strategies to empower you to unleash resources within you with the right technique and programming.

You will:

  • Learn techniques for better state management and mental relaxation
  • Liberate yourself from limiting beliefs & learn success principles
  • Tap on your inner wisdom for problem resolutions
  • Discover your inner values that drives you
  • Recognize destructive patterns that hold you back
  • Experience hypnotherapy to release inner negativity & unleash your maximum potential
  • Resolve conflicts & make better decisions by tapping into your inner oracle
  • Attain your goals, professional and personal

NLP states that if you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten.

Activate your resources now and Live By Design, Not By Default.

Become a Transformational Trainer

By | ABNLP, Billy Kueek, Hypnosis, NLP, Personal Development, Success, Train The Trainer, Training

In a recent survey of over 20,000 people, more than 60% rated learning about Happiness & Positive Living as being very important, while Alternative Healing, Wealth & Abundance Meditation, and Spiritual Growth also received ratings of 51% and above.

Yet many are frustrated with how little they know about these important life skills, and are eager to seek more learnings to fill in the perceived gaps in their lives. There is a growing trend of people who are seeking for trainings in these skills, with the ultimate aim of gaining a positive mindset to fulfill their true potential.

Hence the training industry is one that is expanding rapidly. Whether you are already in the training business or are thinking about becoming a trainer, and want to know the when, what, who, where, why and how, learn from one of Asia’s top corporate trainers, International Speaker and Master Trainer, Dr Billy Kueek.

NLP Trainer

With growing interest in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) for personal and professional development, the demand for good NLP trainers is greater than ever and it is certainly a rewarding profession, both intrinsically and extrinsically. Companies are becoming more interested in soft skills programs with NLP elements as they find them to be more effective and impactful.

Acknowledged as one of the leading NLP Training Companies in the region, Billy Kueek International will be running the NLP Trainers’ Training (NLPTT) program in November 2014, certifying NLP Trainers under the ABNLP (American Board of NLP) – the largest NLP certifying body in the world.

For anyone who has been certified as NLP Practitioners and Master Practitioners and want to become NLP Trainers, they can now do this in Malaysia. For those with no prior NLP knowledge, they can join the Live By Design program at the Practitioner and Master Practitioner levels, before continuing their NLP journey with Trainers’ Training.

The quality of all trainings are assured, as participants will be trained and certified by NLP Master Trainers – Kit Lim (who is also Country Director of Malaysia) and Billy himself – the only NLP Master Trainer in the world certified by both the American Board of NLP (ABNLP) and NLP University (NLPU).

As an NLP Trainer, you will be able to certify NLP Practitioners and Master Practitioners, plus include NLP in their other training programs where appropriate.

They say that the best way to master something is to teach it to others. So even for those who do not plan to become professional trainers, taking Trainers’ Training would ensure that they master it.

MasterClass Train The Trainer

The exciting and challenging NLP Trainers’ Training program was personally custom-designed by Billy himself, and includes the MasterClass Train The Trainer program. Rated globally as the most practical and intensive trainers’ training program, it goes beyond textbook materials as it incorporates micro-training laboratory sessions, demonstrations, role-plays and performance review with the Master Trainer, Billy himself.

The MasterClass Train The Trainer program is a generic program that trains aspiring trainers to become inspiring trainers. It is not content-specific, so Billy will share all the tools and techniques that he knows and uses in his own trainings, as well as share essential business skills to excel in this industry. In other words, the learning curve for participants is shortened so they don’t have to learn from their own trial & error – which can be costly.

In summary, participants will learn how to be a trainer, from telling stories and jokes, to planning training, to running activities, to selling training.

Hypnotherapy Trainer

There are a lot of trainers out there who claim to be master trainers, but many are not certified in any way. Usually after training for a number of years, they call themselves master trainers. However, in NLP, Time Line Therapy™ and Hypnotherapy, there is a structure for certification, and Billy is South East Asia’s only NLP and Hypnotherapy Master Trainer.

Hypnosis is as old as recorded history, probably even older, and what it does is it allows you to communicate with the Unconscious Mind. Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis in a therapeutic context with amazing transformational power and yet, it is a pleasant and calming experience.

A widely accepted method for creating positive changes that begins with the creation of an altered state of consciousness, which stimulates the relaxation response that enables the mind to be suggestible, Hypnotherapy helps in accelerating positive changes.

Skyrocket Your NLP Path in 2014

By | NLP, Personal Development, Success, Train The Trainer, Training

If your belief system is not Liberating, it is likely to be Limiting.” ~ Dr Billy Kueek

What are some of the things you wish you had learned in school, but no one taught you? What did you miss out on that you’d like to acquire now? In a recent survey, an international online publishing company asked over 20,000 people to rank various life skills in terms of importance and the education (or lack of) they received.

The results were certainly interesting.

The biggest gap perceived by the respondents was in Happiness & Positive Living. More than 60% rated this as being very important and yet had received very little formal education on it.

The next four were Alternative Healing, Wealth & Abundance Meditation, and Spiritual Growth , all of which got ratings of 51% and above.

This indicates that many are frustrated with how little they know about these important life skills, and are eager to seek more learnings to fill in the perceived gaps in their lives.

What is interesting to note, is that of these Top 5 learning gaps identified, all are skills that one can acquire and embrace through learning NLP.

Real and relevant education is becoming a precious commodity. Due to this, many are living life by default, accepting whatever life has thrown at them, the circumstances that they are in, playing with the cards they are dealt. More and more people – youths and working adults alike – are searching for new learnings that will make a real impact so that they too can “Live by Design, Not by Default!”

Now imagine learning the skills and knowledge that will help you address your concerns, and then in turn use your new-found knowledge to coach others and inspire them too – to be a better parent, better spouse, better friend, have healthier relationships, be more positive and live the life that they want – that would be wonderful, wouldn’t it?

Whether you are already in the coaching business, training business or are thinking about becoming a trainer, with growing interest in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) for personal and professional development, the demand for good NLP trainers is greater than ever and it is certainly a rewarding profession, both intrinsically and extrinsically. Companies are becoming more interested in soft skills programs with NLP elements as they find them to be more effective and impactful.

For those with no prior NLP knowledge, your pathway begins with NLP Practitioner certification, followed by NLP Master Practitioner certification before moving on to NLP Trainers’ Training (NLPTT). The best thing is, Billy Kueek International is able to support you on your journey from start to finish. For the first 2 certifications, join our signature program Live By Design.

We are all destined to achieve excellence, but in life, there may be obstacles along the way. The idea that everyone is in charge of their thoughts, behavior and success led Billy to create Live By Design. The program combines NLP with Time Line Therapy™, Hypnotherapy and Coaching to provide a complete toolkit.

Positive thinking can create life-changing results. So in order to attract more wealth, good health and even happiness, you have to think positively about it and believe that you are wealthy, healthy and happy, and that you deserve it.

Imagine there was a way where you could:

  • Attract Success,
  • Tap into Your Full Potential,
  • Know Your Passion & True Calling,
  • Understand the True Happiness & Positivity Within Yourself,
  • Instantly Get Into Peak Performance State…

Imagine having the tools that will help you cope with life’s challenges and be able to have a positive mindset no matter what happens. You would like to have that, wouldn’t you?

You can breakthrough limiting beliefs, enhance positivity, make better decisions, discover your personal driving forces, resolve inner conflicts that may be freezing you, get rid of phobias and bad habits. Simply put, it is what works on a daily basis that produces desired results.

Billy Kueek International offers numerous soft skills programs for companies as well as public programs, such as Applied NLP in Sales, Applied NLP in Leadership and Coaching, Impact Systemã Coaching, NLP Associate, NLP Practitioner, NLP Master Practitioner, NLP Trainer and MasterClass Train The Trainer programs.

By now, as you are reading this, you will already have a clear idea if this is the right path for you. You are in charge of our own happiness and success.

The possibilities to your prosperity are endless – take action now!

Breaking News: SEA’s First Batch of NLP Trainers (ABNLP)

By | NLP, Personal Development, Success, Train The Trainer, Training

Dr Billy Kueek with South East Asia's 1st batch of NLP Trainers (ABNLP)

Participants from Singapore, New Zealand, Vietnam and Malaysia came together in Petaling Jaya to be certified as NLP Trainers with Dr Billy Kueek.  Acknowledged as one of the leading NLP Training Companies in the region, Billy Kueek International conducted its NLP Trainers’ Training (NLPTT) program in November 2013, certifying the first batch of NLP Trainers in South East Asia, under the ABNLP (American Board of NLP – the largest NLP certifying body in the world).

This exciting and challenging NLP Trainers’ Training program was personally custom-designed by NLP Master Trainer, Dr. Billy Kueek himself because, as he puts it, “I intend to certify the best NLP Trainers in South East Asia”.

With more than 17 years’ experience in the industry, training over 100,000 participants across 40 countries, Billy has learned the ins & outs of the business and knows what works best for amazing training sessions. The program also includes Billy’s signature MasterClass Train The Trainer program, a generic program that trains aspiring trainers to become inspiring trainers.

With this in mind, the participants had a very intensive and interesting training session, full of applicable insights, behind-the scene tips, role-plays and mini demonstrations. As one participant shared, “Excellent trainer with very practical tips. Many techniques that seem so simple at first, once explained made me realize that it is the little things that make the biggest difference in any trainer’s delivery. This was one of the most inspiring training I have attended, and Billy made it worthwhile, fun and motivating.”

Another participant also commented that, “Being a seasoned trainer myself, you would think that there is nothing much to learn… boy was I wrong! Every day with Billy is another day of a constant flow of new learning, and he made everything so easily absorbable and applicable. The trainings was a real eye-opener and Billy showed me how much more there was to learn.”

In summary, during NLP Trainers’ Training, participants learn how to be a trainer, from telling stories and jokes, to planning training, to running activities, to selling training. After that, they learn how to teach NLP and are taken through rigorous exercises related to NLP techniques.

There are a lot of trainers out there who claim to be ‘master trainers’ after training for a number of years. However, for NLP (as well as for Time Line Therapy™ and Hypnotherapy), there is a structure for certification. And in order to become a certified NLP Trainer, it is necessary to go through a properly structured & regulated program conducted by an experienced NLP Master Trainer. Billy is South East Asia’s only NLP and Hypnotherapy Master Trainer, making him one of the most qualified trainers to conduct the certification program.

Billy Kueek International will be conducting the next NLP Trainers’ Training program in November 2014. As an NLP Trainer, you will be able to train & certify NLP Practitioners and Master Practitioners, plus include NLP elements in other training programs as well (where appropriate).

Live By Design, or die with regrets

By | NLP, Personal Development, Success, Training

It was reported in the Guardian newspaper (UK) recently that a palliative care nurse who counsels the dying asked them what were their greatest regrets at the end of their lives.

Here are the top five regrets of the dying:

  1. I wish I’d the courage to live a life true to myself, not the lives expected of me.
  2. I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.
  3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
  4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
  5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

As you are reading this, does any of the above strike a chord within you?  If so, what will you set out to achieve or change today?

Many of us are focused on making a living instead of actually living.  We are putting in the hours, working to earn enough so that we (and our loved ones) can have a good life.  Do we stop to enjoy and appreciate what we already have?  Do we live the life that we wanted or did we make compromises along the way due to circumstances?

The most common regret is that they lived the lives that was expected of them and did not fulfill their own dreams.  Every male patient had regretted working too hard and missing out on their children growing up and their partner’s companionship.

Many realized that they had suppressed their feelings to keep peace with others and then settled for a mediocre existence while others regretted losing touch with their old friends as they were too caught up on their own lives.

And what is surprising is that many did not realize that happiness is a choice.  Instead their lives were dictated by their old patterns and habits, staying within their comfort zones and fearful of change.

Each and every one of us can live the lives we want, to live by design.  The choice is yours.

Modeling Excellence for Entrepreneurs

By | Entrepreneur, NLP

Many of us dream of being an entrepreneur but are worried about one thing – do we have the qualities that make a successful entrepreneur? Whether you want to be the next Richard Branson, Tony Fernandez or Mark Zuckerberg, you probably want to be your own boss, live by your own rules and take your ideas to the world.

Running a successful business in the 21st Century presents many challenges and even the best business idea faces problems and challenges in the early stages. So the entrepreneur needs to be tough, to stay focused and remain positive.

Easier said than done? Well, with NLP, it really is that easy.

NLP, or Neuro-Linguistic Programming, offers a wide range of tools and techniques that will help every entrepreneur to handle stress, cope in challenging times and set goals that will be achieved.

The basis of NLP is modeling excellence. NLP says that excellence has a structure, so if someone can excel at something, so can anyone else. They just need to know how. Therefore, if you want to be a successful entrepreneur, one of the first things you should do is to find an excellent role model. Who is that person that you feel best represents the kind of successful entrepreneur that you wish to be?

Once you have identified that person, then find out what he or she did in order to succeed – from their education background, to their business philosophies and strategies, to their mindset and ambitions. Everything that you can find out and model will bring you one step closer to reaching your own goal.

If your beliefs are not liberating, they are limiting.

Next is that entrepreneurs must have empowering beliefs. If you have limiting beliefs, these may become your biggest stumbling blocks and prevent you from becoming the very best. NLP can help to get rid of your limiting beliefs which are holding you back. And after that, you would look at what are your inner driving forces that motivate you, and whether these values are aligned with your goals. Taking it further, you may even want to shift your values in order to help you achieve.

Staying focused is easy when things are going well, but when you reach a hurdle, it may not be as easy to remain positive and focused on the dream. For every successful entrepreneur, there are many more who have given up when times are tough. Remember, tough times don’t last, tough people do.

A simple NLP technique called anchoring provides you with the ability to put yourself into a positive state whenever you want to, such as energetic, empowered, confident, powerful, motivated and much more. Think how useful it would be to have a ‘switch’ that you can turn on, as and when you need it!

A key part of NLP is linguistics with the various techniques available to help the entrepreneur. Communication is an important part of business and using Meta Model questions, the entrepreneur is then able to discover the ‘truth’ behind what someone is saying. The Milton Model helps to loosen resistance and get agreement, and utilizing metaphors and reframing will help to change perspectives and diffuse tension.

In business negotiations, the entrepreneur would build rapport to put the other party at ease so that it would help break resistance, influence decisions and close important sales. People who are like each other, like each other. So the act of building rapport helps to solidify and strengthen relationships.

Reading body language and facial expressions would allow the entrepreneur to know whether the other person is saying what they mean. Whatever happens on the inside is reflected on the outside. Hence with the right skills, you will be able to ensure that you are getting the real meaning.

When we are asked whether entrepreneurs should learn NLP, our answer is simply – can you afford not to?

The Mark of a Master Trainer

By | Billy Kueek, NLP, Personal Development, Presentation, Train The Trainer

*NLP Trainers’ Training in 2014: 14 – 24 November*

With so many NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Trainers and Institutes in the market, each claiming to be the best, it can be very confusing to know which to choose.  Some trainers claim to be Master Trainers but they do not have the appropriate certifications.  Others misrepresent the institutes or boards.

So how does one choose?  First of all, check the organization that is providing the certification.  Is it a recognized institute or board?  Look at their websites and write to them to get more information.  Do a thorough check and find out as much as you can before you commit your valuable time and money for the training.

While we are unable to list all the main certifying bodies, here are a few which you may have heard of:

AMERICAN BOARD OF NLP (ABNLP) – this is the largest NLP certifying body in the world with more than 35,000 members worldwide.  Founded in 1955 by A.M.Krasner (who also founded the American Board of Hypnotherapy), ABNLP has members and trainers in most countries.

NLP UNIVERSITY (NLPU) – founded by Robert Dilts, NLPU is based in the University of California, Santa Cruz which is the birthplace of NLP.  This is where Richard Bandler and John Grinder developed NLP back in the 1970s.  Whilst NLPU has certified many Trainers and Master Trainers, they usually offer certification under their own institutes or academies and not NLPU.

NLP LIFE – for those who wish to be trained by Richard Bandler, the co-creator of NLP, then you will need to make a trip to London or USA to attend the program.  The training is co-delivered with John La Valle (and Kathleen La Valle).

INTERNATIONAL TRAINERS’ ACADEMY OF NLP (ITANLP) – this is founded by John Grinder (the other co-creator of NLP), Carmen Bostic St Clair and Michael Carroll and teaches traditional NLP (or as John calls it, Classic Code NLP) and New Code NLP.  Certified trainers under ITANLP are mainly based in Europe.

SOCIETY OF NLP – established in 1978 by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, the Society of NLP is  now owned by Dr Christina Hall.

As for the trainers themselves, NLP certification has the following structure:

  • NLP Practitioner
  • NLP Master Practitioner
  • NLP Trainer
  • NLP Master Trainer

Trainers certify practitioners and master practitioner and Master Trainers certify trainers, master practitioners and practitioners.

Billy Kueek International is proud to be the only NLP certifying institute in South East Asia with 2 NLP Master Trainers and Hypnotherapy Master Trainer and Dr Billy Kueek is the only NLP Master Trainer in the world certified by both ABNLP and NLPU.

For NLP Practitioners and Master Practitioners who would like to be certified as NLP Trainers under the ABNLP, join the NLP Trainers’ Training which will be from 21 to 30 November 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and join us in Transforming People, Inspiring Lives.
