“The better you know yourself, the better is your relationship with the rest of the world.”
Toni Collette

Values are as important and valuable as the back bone that holds us up and keeps us in place to do the things that we love. Values are considered one of the most principal motivating push that individuals need to drive them into taking action with their lives. Values are slowly formed at a very young age through our interaction with our environment and experiences.

What are the values you value most in your life? Does your values drive your inner motivation? Does your values create liberating beliefs that push you out of your comfort zone to do what you really want to do in life, or get what you want in life?

What is it that you want to be that you are not becoming?

Common and Deadly, Anxiety is the Name

“… I can’t stop thinking about this and it’s driving me crazy…
it’s the only thing in my mind…”

“… I’m marveling… is he angry at me? Why is he not replying?
Does he not love me anymore…”

“… I am not good enough. I am not worthy.
I am the reason why people are leaving me…”

“… I know in my heart that this is just a small matter but this feeling keeps kicking in. This feeling makes me question stuff…
it is starting to grow stronger and it is affecting my daily life…”

“… Even when things seem wonderful, calm and peaceful…
I am always waiting, thinking and sensing that something horrible is going to happen…
I hate this feeling…”

Does this seem familiar?
Does it resonate with you?
Does this feel like you … or anyone you know?

Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.
~
 Dalai Lama

I am a curious over-thinker who constantly question myself,  “Do I have what it takes to be happy?”

  • Money
  • Material belongings
  • Level of education and intelligence
  • Type of career
  • Status of relationship
  • Physical appearance and attractiveness
  • Other people thoughts, state and opinions

Go the Extra Mile

Go the extra mile.

That’s a quote I frequently hear when I was working in the service line. Now that I am out of the service industry, I have another perspectives on “Go the extra mile”. While many may link this quote to servicing of customers, I feel that this attitude is not limited to only the service industry. I believe this is a fabulous attitude to have, regardless of what you do.

“How you do something is how you do everything.”

And this quote pretty much sums up everything. When you are able to always put that little extra effort into anything you do, it could move mountains… for someone… maybe even yourself. Have you ever used gift wrapping services at the shopping centers during Christmas period? The service would be in overwhelming demand, and the staff would be handling the massive requests and wrapping presents non-stop? How did you feel when a retail staff made a small effort to create a nice folded design for your wrapping, or stick on that small ribbon which wasn’t inclusive? It made you feel good, didn’t it?

I was at a Branding workshop recently and we had hands-on practices to design our labels, tagline, secret formula presentation, etc. Very often we were put into small groups to present to each other and get feedback on how to improve. After a group presentation, I went up to a gentleman in my group. He was struggling to put his stuff together during his presentation. I gave him some suggestion on improving his label. The next day, I went back to him and shared with him a tagline I thought of. He was so touched and grateful. Of course, we became good friends after that. A friend, who attended the workshop with me, witnessed the interaction. She said “Hey, you could add this trait of yours to your label!” It then got me reflecting. No matter what I do, I always pride myself to make a little more effort… to go the extra mile! And that’s the reason why my customers and colleagues love me!

The Extra Mile Day was started, on 1 November 2009, to encourage people from all walks of life to simply live a fulfilling, self-directed lifestyle that does not constrain their potential, and that enables them to at least go the extra mile to achieve what they have always wanted.

Have you done justice to yourself? Have you gone the extra mile… made the extra effort to achieve what you want?

Happy Extra Mile Day!

Creating, Capturing & Celebrating Your Own Happiness – Part 1

Imagine yourself enjoying a cup of tea or coffee somewhere you can unwind and chill while Pharrell Williams’s “Happy”
or the song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin play in the background. You can, can you not?

How would you describe your feeling? Calm? Relaxed? Excited? Or how about Happy?

I believe, happiness would be one of the feelings that would pop out in your list. That euphoric feeling everyone craves the most no matter what situation they are in, just to feel better and not feel like they are about to burn out. What this also implies is that happiness is highly likely to be on most people’s To-Do list, New Year Resolution list, Relationship list or bucket list. Now think about this. Throughout our lifetime, have there been times where we wondered or been asked by others, what does happiness means to us or how do we define happiness?

Is Happiness…

Living Free – Make the Right Choice

Watching “The Greatest Showman” triggered many thoughts and stirred many emotions within me. With the world advancing so rapidly and making great improvements to human lives, yet we are still encountering natural disasters, illnesses and physical/mental defects. While many claimed to be saintly and aspire to be a great person, it is with no doubts that many also still bears prejudices and discrimination for people who are different. Thus when one stands out differently, he or she seemed to be the common target for random attacks in one way or another.
