Be Selfish, Love Yourself

By | ABNLP, Change, Coaching, Hypnosis, Live by Design, NLP, Personal Development

Love Yourself:
Time to Say Goodbye to Others (just for a little while) & Hello to Yourself (here to stay)

Self-Love is not Selfish.
Loving yourself more is not Selfish.
Putting yourself first is not Selfish.
Doing things you love, having fun and enjoying them is not Selfish.
Pay more importance to your own feelings is not Selfish.
Taking possession of your own happiness is not Selfish.
What you decide and choose as a priority is not Selfish.
Saying No is not Selfish.
Breaking other people heart with the intention to protect your own is not Selfish.
Taking time to repair and maintain yourself is not Selfish.
Treating oneself with pampering and kindness is not Selfish.

Somehow you will know when to start being “Selfish”.
Somehow you will know when to be “Selfish”.
Somehow you will know when not to be “Selfish”.
Somehow you will know when you have to be “Selfish”.

Have a time or moment that is just about you and not others.
Be responsible to yourself.
Take good care of yourself above all others.
Live the life you want it to be, and not how others told you to.
Love yourself.
Appreciate life and its beauty.

Right now, what is stopping you from having it?

At this moment…
What is making you think you cannot do it?
What is that fear that surrounds you?
What is it that you want?

If you never make yourself your top priority,
how can you expect anyone else to do it for you?

*Side Note: This article is not suggesting that you should disregard other people’s feelings, break the rules, or be a total narcissistic, unethical, unlikable and rude human being. There is a fine line of loving and doing things for yourself to being a total jerk and too being self-centered person.

Common and Deadly, Anxiety is the Name

“… I can’t stop thinking about this and it’s driving me crazy…
it’s the only thing in my mind…”

“… I’m marveling… is he angry at me? Why is he not replying?
Does he not love me anymore…”

“… I am not good enough. I am not worthy.
I am the reason why people are leaving me…”

“… I know in my heart that this is just a small matter but this feeling keeps kicking in. This feeling makes me question stuff…
it is starting to grow stronger and it is affecting my daily life…”

“… Even when things seem wonderful, calm and peaceful…
I am always waiting, thinking and sensing that something horrible is going to happen…
I hate this feeling…”

Does this seem familiar?
Does it resonate with you?
Does this feel like you … or anyone you know?

Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.
~
 Dalai Lama

I am a curious over-thinker who constantly question myself,  “Do I have what it takes to be happy?”

  • Money
  • Material belongings
  • Level of education and intelligence
  • Type of career
  • Status of relationship
  • Physical appearance and attractiveness
  • Other people thoughts, state and opinions

Go the Extra Mile

By | Change, Food for thought, Live by Design, NLP, Personal Development

Go the extra mile.

That’s a quote I frequently hear when I was working in the service line. Now that I am out of the service industry, I have another perspectives on “Go the extra mile”. While many may link this quote to servicing of customers, I feel that this attitude is not limited to only the service industry. I believe this is a fabulous attitude to have, regardless of what you do.

“How you do something is how you do everything.”

And this quote pretty much sums up everything. When you are able to always put that little extra effort into anything you do, it could move mountains… for someone… maybe even yourself. Have you ever used gift wrapping services at the shopping centers during Christmas period? The service would be in overwhelming demand, and the staff would be handling the massive requests and wrapping presents non-stop? How did you feel when a retail staff made a small effort to create a nice folded design for your wrapping, or stick on that small ribbon which wasn’t inclusive? It made you feel good, didn’t it?

I was at a Branding workshop recently and we had hands-on practices to design our labels, tagline, secret formula presentation, etc. Very often we were put into small groups to present to each other and get feedback on how to improve. After a group presentation, I went up to a gentleman in my group. He was struggling to put his stuff together during his presentation. I gave him some suggestion on improving his label. The next day, I went back to him and shared with him a tagline I thought of. He was so touched and grateful. Of course, we became good friends after that. A friend, who attended the workshop with me, witnessed the interaction. She said “Hey, you could add this trait of yours to your label!” It then got me reflecting. No matter what I do, I always pride myself to make a little more effort… to go the extra mile! And that’s the reason why my customers and colleagues love me!

The Extra Mile Day was started, on 1 November 2009, to encourage people from all walks of life to simply live a fulfilling, self-directed lifestyle that does not constrain their potential, and that enables them to at least go the extra mile to achieve what they have always wanted.

Have you done justice to yourself? Have you gone the extra mile… made the extra effort to achieve what you want?

Happy Extra Mile Day!

Creating, Capturing & Celebrating Your Own Happiness – Part 1

Imagine yourself enjoying a cup of tea or coffee somewhere you can unwind and chill while Pharrell Williams’s “Happy”
or the song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin play in the background. You can, can you not?

How would you describe your feeling? Calm? Relaxed? Excited? Or how about Happy?

I believe, happiness would be one of the feelings that would pop out in your list. That euphoric feeling everyone craves the most no matter what situation they are in, just to feel better and not feel like they are about to burn out. What this also implies is that happiness is highly likely to be on most people’s To-Do list, New Year Resolution list, Relationship list or bucket list. Now think about this. Throughout our lifetime, have there been times where we wondered or been asked by others, what does happiness means to us or how do we define happiness?

Is Happiness…

Living Free – Make the Right Choice

By | ABNLP, Change, Coaching, Hypnosis, Live by Design, NLP, Personal Development, Time Line Therapy, Training

Watching “The Greatest Showman” triggered many thoughts and stirred many emotions within me. With the world advancing so rapidly and making great improvements to human lives, yet we are still encountering natural disasters, illnesses and physical/mental defects. While many claimed to be saintly and aspire to be a great person, it is with no doubts that many also still bears prejudices and discrimination for people who are different. Thus when one stands out differently, he or she seemed to be the common target for random attacks in one way or another.

Focus on What’s Important

Personal sharing of Jessica (24 years old) on her experience during a certification program conducted by Billy Kueek International

“Life is like a camera,
Capture the good times,
Develop from the negatives
And if things don’t work out,
Take another shot.

This quote perfectly sums up my LBD (Live By Design) journey organized by Billy Kueek International (BKI). LBD is short for Live By Design and not by default, a program which has benefitted me tremendously as it shows me how to live my life according to my own principles and values, and not according to other people’s expectations. In our society or culture, there are no shortages of cases where people, friends and family members “recommend” how we should live our life, what work or job we should pursue, what course we should study, what to eat… and the list goes on. I am pretty sure all of us to do it – whether consciously or unconsciously – and I have had my fair share of being on the receiving end of these incidences as well while growing up.

Living By Design – Everything is Impossible

Living By Design – December 2015: by Elvina Cheah, Children’s Coach

I came to know about NLP through a graduate of BKI – Olivia Ong. I was endlessly surprised by her ability to solve problems and coach people to see the true root cause behind every effect. She has coached me personally with the mere intention of getting me to move forward in life and liberate me from my limiting beliefs. I am a very competitive person and am afraid of being toppled. Such attitude made me wonder. what is it that gave her such character? With this, inspired as I was, I decided to model her.

Decluttering – Part 2 update (quick tip)

By | ABNLP, Billy Kueek, Change, Coaching, Corporate training, Hypnosis, NLP, Personal Development, Time Line Therapy, Training, Uncategorized

On the matter of decluttering paper and documents, here is a quick tip on those papers that you should keep but are oh so fiddly. I am referring to receipts, especially for warranty purposes.  You need to keep receipts as proof of purchase when you may need to get the item repaired within the warranty period, yet nowadays, the receipts are printed on heat sensitive paper which fades over time.

One easy way to keep track of all this is to take a snapshot of the receipt and email it to yourself. Create a new folder in your email to store all such documents. To make it easier to search, the email subject should contain the item details, name of store and the expiry date (rather than the date of purchase).

For example, Philips kettle, Harvey Norman, 3rd June 2017.

This makes it easy for you to find the right receipt without opening all your emails, and when the expiry date has passed, you can delete the email. Most stores will accept a reprinted copy of the receipt, but do check when you are purchasing the item.
